Americans are so super busy, between careers, childcare, marriages, relationships and whatnot. But make no mistake, most of the time its running around in circular motions. We find it verry difficult to simply relax and enjoy some "me-time". I would like to suggest that we re-prioritze
and learn to use this time more contructively. For example, some soul-searching may be in order to discover our "true" likes and dislikes, making goals for the future and spending quality time with our loved ones. However, we feel an overwhelming need to be entertained. Perhaps, we waste a so much time, seeking outside distractions, that we miss the opportunity to discover what's really important in our day-to-day-lives.
I agree that some of us do get a little distracted when it comes to entertainment and we tend to forget that we have priorities such as family, chores, work, and homework. I personally need some type of entertainment to get my mind off of daily stressors. Individuals need some type of entertainment, I couldn’t imagine my life without it.
ReplyDeleteI like the phrasing that you were using when you said "seeking outside distractions". I think its an interesting concept because most people don't even think about it that way. When people go to a family members funeral and you realize just how many of your family members you havent seen in years, or ones that you don't even recognize because you haven't seen them since before you could remember, it should tell you something about how much unneeded time we spend on things that are not necessary.
ReplyDeleteIt do become hard to get "me time". While judgle school, children, and relationships. You'll got to the store to buy yourself something, and will see something awesome for your kids. Than your stuck with the decision of getting it for you kids or be selfish this one time and finally get something for yourself?
ReplyDeleteTell me about it!! I never have any time to do anything for myself. Between my family, work, and school I just find myself exausted. Some nights I don't get my homework done until 1am or so. My husband does his fair share of housework to help me out around the house, or so he thinks, but a lot of the time I find myself going behind him and doing it the right way.lol. On the mornings that I roll out of bed before anyone else (don't get me wrong, I be crazy tired) I come out in the living room and sometimes just sit for a while and enjoy the peace and quite for a while before I start my daily activities or get ready for work. Even sometimes I'm just satisfied if I can get in an hour nap when needed, which is needed often, but rarely done.
