Japan's back in the news

How can someone feel safe with the news changing about japans’ nuclear crisis? Now the governmental policies have been changed by the Japanese government. The people of Iitate Japan have been evacuated, about 85,000 people. The planting of rice and vegetables have been forbidden there. Get this, Iitate, Japan, where the Fukushima nuclear plant is located is the fourth largest producer of rice.
I fear that for so many reasons. I feel eventually I can be affected by unsafe radiation levels. I love rice! America might not import a lot of rice from Japan, but what about imports of finished products that contain rice. Even if the products don’t come straight from Japan. Japan exports rice to many countries America allows to import finished food products into our country. I just don’t want to find out five years from now that I have developed cancer because of ingestion of foods, with unsafe levels of radiation.
Should I be concerned? I don’t believe any in-depth investigations have been conducted. Taking the word of the executive branch for it isn’t comfortable for me.

  1. I do believe we should be concerned because now and days things are getting worse and worse especially when it comes down to our food. yea im Puertorican and all we eat is rice with every meal :) But yea years from now we more than likely will be affected from something involving our food supply. Hopefully not but if things are going as they are now with our food then expect the unexpected.
